South Asian Monsoons Displace Millions

「高燒」氣溫 連續第11天

星島日報 報道)香港連日「高燒」不退，天文台 昨日錄得本年最高氣溫三十五點三度，酷熱天氣警告更連續發出第十一天，預計氣溫到下周初才稍為下降。有家庭醫生指炎熱天氣增加患流感機會，上星期流感求診人士微升，呼籲長期病患者及長者減少到人多擠逼的地方。
　　自上月二十四日下午至今，天文台連續第十一天發出酷熱天氣警告，盡破以往紀錄。昨日市區一度錄得三十五點三度高溫，打鼓嶺錄得三十六度，橫瀾島最熱，錄得三十七點九度。天文台預計氣溫要到下周初才會稍為下降，並有零散驟雨。
　　 長者安居服務協會昨日共收到逾千名長者按動平安鐘 求助，六十九人需送院，大部分長者感氣促和頭暈。生防護中心資料顯示，截至上月二十八日的一個星期，中心接獲八宗院舍爆發流感報告，共有三十六人到醫院接受治療，普通科診所及私家醫生每一千名求診者中，分別有六人及三十九人的流感病患者。
　　 家庭醫生關嘉美指，流感與酷熱天氣息息相關。「天氣酷熱，市民自然會留在有冷氣的地方，但開冷氣要關上門窗，空氣極不流通，如果環境中有流感細菌，市民便很容易患病。」她表示，有病例是全家陸續感染流感：「香港房屋狹少，病菌傳播在全屋暢通無阻，即使不同房間亦會互相感染。」她建議市民開冷氣時亦稍開門窗，以助空氣流通，長期病患者如要進入人煙稠密的地方，可以戴上口罩，但最好避免到人多的地方。
　　 除流感外，中暑 求診數字亦稍微上升，但不少市民卻誤以為中暑病徵為一般身體不適，例如感氣促的人以為自己氣管炎發作，其實亦是中暑象之一。「有菲傭求診時指自己作嘔作悶，她做家務時仍穿緊身衫褲，只飲咖啡不喝水，當中的咖啡因成分增加中暑及脫水的機會。」
　　 天文台預料天氣繼續酷熱，今日最高氣溫約為三十四度，提醒市民若要在戶外工作或活動，應多喝水和不要過度勞累，感覺不適時盡快到陰涼的地方休息，並避免長時間在陽光下暴曬，穿上鬆身衣服以及佩戴適當帽子和能吸收紫外的太陽眼鏡。

港市區錄得35.3度高溫為今年最高

香港天文台已連續第10日發出酷熱天氣警告，今日（3日）更在市區錄得攝氏35.3度高溫，是今年來最高紀錄。
衛生署提醒從事戶外工作的人士，今午及周末（4日）期間採取預防措施，以免在炎熱天氣下中暑和曬傷。
發言人說，市民進行戶外活動時，必須帶備並補充大量水份，以防出現脫水，亦應避免喝大量含咖啡因及酒類飲品，例如咖啡、茶，因這些飲品會加速身體水份透過泌尿系統流失。
民政事務總署將於今晚10時30分至明日早上8時，開放9間夜間臨時避暑中心供有需要人士入住。

Painting Said to Be Van Gogh Is Not

The painting was revealed as a fake Friday, Aug. 3, 2007 after art experts found it was probably painted by one his peers. The director of Australia's National Gallery of Victoria, Gerard Vaughan, said a specialist team at the Van Gogh Museum in the Netherlands found the painting had strong stylistic differences from the Dutch artist's other works, and was mostly likely painted by one of his contemporaries
